Healing Stones

Alexis Thompson, LGPC

Alexis is a strengths-based therapist. She specializes in treating children adolescents. Alexis uses a person-centered approach because she believes the client is the expert of their own life. She is good at creating a gentle and caring environment to let the client feel being heard and understood.

In addition to a person-centered approach, Alexis finds solution-focused therapy is effective as it teaches the client to focus on the positive steps that they have already taken and the client will be able to use their own wisdom to overcome the challenges in their life.

Alexis likes to support the client’s healing journey by diving into the root cause. She integrates psychoanalytic approach in the session as she thinks by exploring the past and recognizing patterns of related emotions/ behaviors can help the client connect to their unconscious mind and gain insights that they have not found before.

Within sessions, Alexis is a good listener as she is attentive to the client’s needs. She encourages the client to be authentic and accept who they are. The clients thinks Alexis is the best cheerleader they have never met as Alexis is good at identifying client’s strengths and she provides positive affirmations by celebrating the client’s big wins and small wins!

The clients enjoy working with Alexis as she is approachable, nonjudgmental, and supportive. She uses feeling-based interventions which is easy for clients to access and explore different thoughts and emotions.

Alexis is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in Maryland. She earned her Master of Education degree in School Counseling from the University of Maryland, College Park.

When not working with clients, Alexis enjoys embroidery, practicing French, and reading.

Are you ready to make a change? Alexis is looking forward to supporting you along this healing journey!
